I chose Winthrop because…
I chose Winthrop because I was looking for a university where I could have a fresh start and a be a part of a community that offered room for me to explore my identity and grow as a person. From my first visit to campus, I observed the inclusivity among Winthrop's student body and the wide range of aesthetics that the students' possessed and immediately sensed Winthrop's value for authenticity. I felt that Winthrop offered a community where anyone could obtain a sense of belonging without pressure to act outside of their true selves, which was the kind of atmosphere that I desired when starting my college experience.
My favorite Winthrop tradition...
My favorite Winthrop tradition is The Blue Line which is held every year for new students. This tradition allows for the Rock Hill community to come out and celebrate the new students, and it is one of the traditions/events where great friendships form.
My favorite spots in Rock Hill are…
My favorite spot in Rock Hill is the Center for the Arts. Growing up I was involved in musical choruses and theatre productions, so I have an interest and appreciation for all forms of arts presented in the art galleries held in the Center for the Arts.
My most memorable Winthrop experience…
My most memorable Winthrop experience was going to my first campus event, "WU Dropped It," hosted by the DiGiorgio Student Union. My new friends and I attended the event and had a lot of fun listening and singing to music, watching other students perform and lip sync, and meeting new people. After experiencing it during my first week of attending Winthrop, I was confident that Winthrop was the place where I was going to be more outgoing and take part in campus activities.
