Of the close knit community both on and off of campus. As soon as I stepped onto the campus it felt like the place where I wanted to spend the next 4 years to continue my education.
My favorite Winthrop tradition...
My favorite Winthrop tradition are the ghost tours that are given around the Halloween season. Halloween is my favorite holiday and I love all things spooky and weird so getting to take part in the ghost tours and learn more "spooky" facts about the campus throughout its history is always a fun treat.
My most memorable Winthrop experience…
When Hurricane Helene hit and I had to stay on campus because I couldn't go back home. I was scared because this was my first time dealing with a natural disaster I couldn't just run to my parents. During the time when campus was closed the staff that stayed made sure all the students who couldn't leave were well supported. We had 3 meals everyday and had plenty of resources provided to us from the surrounding communities. This time also helped me to develop a deeper connection within my friend groups and we basically had one big sleepover until the remainder of campus re-opened for students and faculty to return back to normal life. What was a scary experience at first turned into a bunch of great memories that I will forever cherish.
